A quick video of this Instructor Led Training is below. Don't forget to glance at the guides that accompany it! Details about the project are written at the bottom of the page.

Problem:

Montevideo Middle School needed to present their behavior system to new hires at their annual new teacher training. Teachers hired the previously reported that their training was not sufficient and often caused confusion and frustration. Administration was also seeing the system being used incorrectly by staff. This disorganization led to frequent behavior outbursts and detentions for students.

Solution:

This learning module in Storyline organizes the detailed material into sections that can be easily followed by the audience. It is meant to be used as a presentation guide (in-person or virtually) but can also be assigned as a self-paced module. The learner guide and trainer guide prompt users to interact with the training through discussions and activities. The knowledge check at the end can be completed in the presentation itself, or in the learner guide, where it is laid out as a PDF.

Outcome:

This resource ended up being led virtually to a group of teachers. Administration also offered the module as an optional training session for all teachers. New teachers were surveyed a few weeks after their training and 90% said they feel confident in using the program. This is a 50% increase from teacher survey results in previous years. Principals have also seen less mistakes involving reporting and handling behavior with the system; they estimate that 65 out of the 80 teachers employed at MMS are using the BASE program correctly. This has, in turn, dramatically decreased the amount of extreme behavior issues and loss of teaching time in classrooms.
